I recently knuckled down and ordered some vinyl temptations from the good folks at Sundazed Records and am very happy on all three counts.
Pretty In PInk … and Purple: Jumped on the email offer from Sundazed last week and yesterday my uber limited edition purple-pink (100 copies made!) mono copy of Jefferson Airplane’s Surrealistic Pillow arrived. Sounds fabulous. Unfortunately, all the covers in my order were damaged in shipping so Sundazed is sending me out new covers today That is customer service!
I Can Hear Clearly Now: Its been a revelation to hear the legendary psych punk classic first album by The 13th Floor Elevators in great sound. Original pressings are very rare and the ones I have heard were pretty noisy. And the CDs reissues I’ve heard have been lame fake stereo and such. But this mono version rocks. Hard. And Sundazed apparently only pressed a few hundred copies in this smoky clear vinyl w00t!
Giving It Up For The Bird: Another hard to find in good shape (and reasonable price) is this classic by The Trashmen: Surfin’ Bird. So I finally bought it as a reissue from Sundazed. And it sounds awesome (the title track sounds as punchy as my old 45 but without surface noise) and the milky-red vinyl is way fun. Only 200 copies pressed in red! Get it here!
