Samsung showed off its new lineup of LED and Plasma HDTVs this week, which will be available this spring. The line includes 21 new LED TV models and 15 plasma displays.
LED sets new to the Samsung line range in size from 10 to 55 inches. All models include Smart TV and 3D capabilities. The Samsung sets include features such as search, which allows users to search for content on the TV via Samsung Apps; Your Video, which delivers recommendations based on a user's viewing history; and Samsung Apps, an HDTV-based app store with over 200 apps (currently) with utilities such as sports, entertainment, information, games and social networking. A web browser is available on select models, including the D8000, D7000, and D6300. One networking feature, AllShare, lets users share multimedia content across all devices, and Samsung’s One Foot Connection provides hassle-free network setup. Samsung has built advanced picture enhancing technologies in the new TVs that provides a premium picture quality in both 2D and 3D modes.
The sets feature Samsung’s new ONE Design ultra-thin bezel. The bezel is reduced on the LED D8000, D7000, and D6400 Series, which allows viewers to enjoy virtually edgeless TV viewing. The 18-inch UN19D4000 will retail for $249 and the largest picture size UN55D800 55-inch LED set will sell for $3,599.
Samsung is also offering a number of larger-size plasma screens this spring. The 15 models range in size from the 43-inch PN43D450 at $599 to the 64-inch PN64D8000 at $3,799.
Plasma sets feature the new Smart Hub, search, Your Video, web browser, and Samsung Apps. The Plasma line is 3D capable, and uses a range of 3D active glasses that are Bluetooth-enabled to offer a stable signal and more vivid, lifelike 3D imagery.
Samsung’s Plasma+1 design sets have the same narrow bezel as the One Design LED sets.
