IOGEAR goes retro with its latest gadget, the USB Theater Sound Xperience. The USB audio adapter has a transparent vacuum tube-style design, reminiscent of old stereo components. The device takes two-channel (stereo) audio and processes it with DTS Surround Sensation when headphones are plugged in. The effect is of sounds occurring outside the boundaries of the two channels.
Audio cues such as special frequencies, volume intensity, and time delay help create the USB Theater Sound Xperience.
The device has three proprietary DTS Surround Sensation technologies. Voice Clarification enhances the signal clarity to improve the audio quality of dialog derived from Blu-ray or standard DVD. Bass Enhancement Technology restores the perception of fundamental low-frequency tones by dynamically augmenting harmonics, yielding improved bass performance without a subwoofer. Soundstage Expansion Technology provides a broadened soundstage and creates a phantom center channel for improved clarity and audio crispness.
The USB Theater Sound Xperience has two 3.5 mm jacks for stereo microphone-in and stereo headphone-out connection. The device will sell for $39.99.
