I knew it wouldn’t be long before at least one of the networks tried to sue Dish Network over its Auto Hop commercial-skipping feature. Via the Hollywood Reporter comes news that Fox was the first network to go all litigious on Dish.
The Fox suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Thursday on behalf of Fox Broadcasting, 20th Century Fox Film Corp. and Fox Television Holdings, accused Dish of copyright infringement and breach of contract.
In the same lawsuit, Fox aims its sights in Dish’s Sling Adapter, as well, which it says “competes unfairly with licensed providers such as iTunes and Amazon.”
Dish has responded by filing its own lawsuit against the Big Four, “seeking a declaration as to the legality of its new service.”
