“We’re Going to Need a Bigger Rack!”: Best Buy Doesn’t Order Enough Jaws Blu-rays to Fill Exclusive Pre-Orders

Turns out that Best Buy underestimated the demand for their exclusive digibook of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws on Blu-ray, because it looks like pretty much every store got shorted, and many have been unable to fulfill their pre-orders. Here’s one consumer’s experience:

I ordered the Best Buy exclusive version of Jaws for in store pickup. I was emailed by Best Buy that the order was ready for pick up. When I got to the store the Customer Service desk could not find the order. They looked around in back and realized that they must have accidentally sold all their copies and the 3 people who pre-ordered would not get their orders. They kept me waiting for about an hour before finally calling corporate only to find out the Blu Ray was sold out everywhere and there was nothing they can do.

Turns out that pretty much every store in the chain is sold out, and likely won’t be getting any more in, because it’s a run-once item.

For those left out in the cold, might I suggest the Amazon UK exclusive steelbook, which, in my opinion, is a way cooler premium anyway?

You might want to get to the store for the exclusive Hunger Games early on Friday. Just sayin’.
