SlingBox and the Dish Sling Adapter have been very popular with travelers, and a feature that cable companies are starting to try to emulate with their latest offerings.
Starting September 6, TiVo owners will be able to plop down $130 to stream their recordings from their fancy boxes to their iOS devices, and soon after that Android. After adding the box, you’ll be able to record or stream up to four shows, depending on your TiVo, without interrupting live TV viewing on the source box. You have your choice of various resolutions, either streaming over your home network, or downloading to your device.
I hope there’s some HTPC plugins and other boxes in the future with this kind of slick DVR integration so I can enjoy my DVR’d stuff from the safety of the sack, because I’m starting to get a little jealous.
