URC’s Total Control system is making pretty serious head way in the whole-home control market, despite being the young’un on the block. If you haven’t read it yet, you can check out my dealer-focused review of the core of the system at Residential Systems. There’s a more consumer-focused review in the works for you guys, which should be done sometime before they dig a hole and put me in the ground.

Which would be done a lot faster if URC would stop updating the system! The company has just revamped its Total Control Mobile iOS app (free to download, only $199 for a site-wide activation for all of your iDoodads if you have a Total Control system), to add two-way control of the company’s DMS-AV Network Home Theater Amplifier/Processor and THZ-100 Advanced Thermostat.

Dealers have been asking for even more two-way control of third-party devices, as well, so URC has added quite a bit of support in this update, for “audio/video receivers from Denon, Integra, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, Sony and Yamaha; Lutron RadioRA 2 lighting, Proliphix thermostats, TED (The Energy Detective) electricity monitor; and products that use KNX, the international building standard for integration and automation of a wide variety of household products.”
