Consumer Electronics Association Forecasts Jump in Holiday Tech Spending

Colleague Stephen Silver has the story about the CEA’s forecasts for holiday spending:

The Consumer Electronics Association Tuesday forecast an 11 percent jump in overall holiday spending, with CE spending expected to rise slightly.

The annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study was introduced Tuesday at the CEA Industry Forum in San Francisco.

The average consumer plans to spend $252 on consumer electronics this year, up from last year’s $246.

“Consumers are feeling more confident in the overall direction of the economy this holiday season compared to last year and, as a result, will spend more on gifts, including electronics,” Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist and senior director of research, said in a statement.
