Microsoft has been quietly working for years now on making the Xbox the proffered video source for a generation of a generation. In addition to voice and gesture controlled entertainment for video entertainment, they were the first to bring Netflix to game consoles, the first to turn the console into a cable box, and to bring pay-per-view sporting events to their streaming services.

So it’s no surprise to see, via Engadget, that the company is posting jobs listings for a Cloud TV project that promises to be “ambitious.” With Surface launching, and a 7″ Xbox-centric tablet rumored to be close behind, Microsoft is looking to make some major moves in 2013. Given that Microsoft’s back end is already a big part of AT&T’s U-verse service, is it a surprise that they’re looking to expand?
