With Peter Jackson’s latest trek to Middle-earth soaring into theater next week, excitement for all things Hobbitish is understandably peaking. One of my own personal dreams is to one day build a Hobbit hole of my own, so I got a kick out of a new roundup and Treehugger exploring Hobbit-inspired underground and earth-sheltered houses. Not only are most of these homes cozy and green, but a few of them are absolutely gorgeous, to boot.
Granted, a few of them are a bit of a stretch, to say the least, but the tour ends with one of my all-time favorite earth-sheltered homes, the Villa Vas in Switzerland.
