More Earth-Sheltered Homes from Hobbiton to Tatooine

Following up on last week’s story about earth-sheltered homes, Treehugger has a new slideshow up exploring even more earth-sheltered dwellings the world over, from cozy abodes in Iceland to the actual Lars homestead in Tunisia.

My favorite, though, is a pre-fab home from ColFibrex. Just add dirt and foliage, and you’ll have a Hobbit hole of your own. And not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: an actual, honest-to-goodness green pre-fab home, with lower climate control bills and rounded door tops.
