Theta Digital Compli Blu 3D Universal Disc TransportTheta Digital makes some seriously hardcore home theater gear.  Chances are that if Theta gear is in your rack, you know exactly what you want and will spend what it takes to get it. Well, if you’re one of those people, and you’ve been upset that you couldn’t watch Captain America in 3D in your steampunk-themed, dedicated home theater via the most luxurious and feature-packed Blu-ray 3D player anyone has ever heard of, the Compli Blu 3D Universal Disc Transport has finally arrived.

An update to Theta’s original Compli Blu transport, the 3D version adds, among other things, 3D capability, along with the ability to play virtually any disc format on the planet, including: BD-Video, Blu-ray 3D, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, AVCHD, SACD, CD, HDCD, Kodak Picture CD, CD-R/RW, DVD±R/RW, DVD±R DL, BD-R/RE, BD-R/RE DL.

Audio decoding compatibility includes: Stereo, up to 7.1ch high-resolution PCM, up to 5.1ch DSD, bitstream or LPCM conversion of Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, and DTS-HD Master Audio.

I guess that’s why they call it a “universal” disc transport.  If the Compli Blu 3D can’t play it, chances are you may have a VHS or Betamax in your hand.

Theta claims that it’s just too hard to get good quality DAC’s into a disc player, so forget ’em.  The Compli Blu 3D is designed to be used with advanced preamp/processors and outboard DAC like Theta’s Casablanca III HD or Generation VIII S3.

“It’s simply impossible to build a DAC into a disc player that can compare with the finest outboard units,” said Reich. “Rather than waste money on inferior analog audio circuitry, we removed it to eliminate any possible interference from ground-currents, designed the power supply using a custom toroidal transformer and added RF filtering to reduce any possible noise.”

The Compli Blu 3D uses the industry’s leading video card featuring Marvell’s QDEO processing to insure that Theta’s users will have the the optimum picture regardless of encoding, disc cadence, or de-interlacing, plus a novel audio topology that eliminates analog audio outputs.

Further, using the included WiFi adapter (compatible with 802.11 b/g/n), or the built-in RJ45 Ethernet port, users can stream NetFlix, VuDu, Pandora, and others directly, plus, the Compli 3D is DLNA compliant for streaming A/V playback from a PC or laptop.

The Compli Blu 3D is available in platinum or ebony color, with standard or rack-mount chassis and is available for world-wide use in versions with 117 or 230 volt AC power supplies.

MSRP for the Theta Digital Compli Blu 3D is $3,995.00
