ArgoTo promote next week’s release of best-picture candidate Argo, Warner Bros has released “Argo Declassified” to YouTube, a 30 minute documentary that explores the movie and the real-life events it depicts.

Those events revolve around the Iranian Revolution, during which the American Embassy was seized and its occupants taken hostage. Six managed to escape and found refuge nearby, and the CIA launched a daring mission to extract them — a mission so crazy, it only exists in the movies. By creating a fake sci-fi movie in the style of Flash Gordon, they were able to sneak into Iran on a fake location scout, and steal away the refugees right under the Iranians’ noses.

Check out the documentary below, and if you haven’t already, pre-order Argo from Amazon today.
