CasaTunes AirCasaTunes has announced a new line of multi-room music servers that enable hybrid wired and wireless audio zones, all while being able to leverage existing technology in your home.  CasaTunes Music Servers start at 3 wired rooms and 5 wireless rooms and support up to 24 wired rooms with 10 wireless rooms.

CasaTunes enables wired zones through traditional means, which means you’ll need a multi-channel amplifier on hand to get the speakers to make the music.  CasaTunes has come up with a solution to not only simplify your installation, but also save a little money.  With the ability to integrate with A/V receivers from Denon, Harman Kardon, Integra/Onkyo, Marantz, Pioneer, Sony, and Yamaha, you can add multi-room audio, all while using gear that you may already own.  Once configured, listening to music in a room that is powered by a multi-zone AV Receiver is completely transparent to the homeowner. The room can be controlled just as if it were any other zone in the casa.

CasaTunes again leverages existing technology to bring your wireless zones to life.  Utilizing Apple AirPlay technology, adding zones couldn’t be simpler.  The AirPlay market is saturated with speakers to choose from, and if none of the speakers strikes your fancy, you can also use an AppleTV or AirPort Express to beam your tunes to your room of choice, and bring your own speakers along.

Whether your system is wired, wireless, or a hybrid of the two, CasaTunes continuously synchronizes all zones to ensure that you have echo-free playback as your travel from room to room.

As you might have guessed, an iOS device will really make this system shine.  Anyone who has used AirPlay before will enjoy being able to access any of the CasaTunes zones from the built-in AirPlay function found in most media playback focused apps via CasaTunes Air.  Simply hit the airplay button, find your room, and you’re good to go.  The good news is that you can play from your iOS device to any room, or group of rooms, meaning that you can finally stream to multiple AirPlay zones — something that you cannot do with AirPlay on its own.  Check out a video about CasaTunes Air below:

Additional control options include dedicated apps for iOS and Android (both with smartphone and tablet versions).  CasaTunes also has a web browser control along with dedicated keypads, for those without a plethora of handheld devices.

If you already own a multi-room system from Audio Authority, Channel Vision, Nuvo, Russound, or SpeakerCraft, CasaTunes can integrate into it and offer the CasaTunes capabilities to these systems.  CasaTunes offers a 3, 4, and 8 source music streamer solution to power these multi-room systems.

CasaTunes can also integrate with your home automation systems including AMX, BitWise Controls, and RTI.  Crestron and Control4 integration will be available in the coming months.

CasaTunes Multi-Room Music Servers with Multi-Zone AV Receiver support is available immediately. The CasaTunes CT-3 multi-room music system and 3 AirPlay speakers can be purchased for as little as $1,999 to provide a complete six-room solution.
