Lyngdorf Audio Unnamed Amplifier Prototype ContestLyngdorf Audio is certainly making its name more known this week. If you recognize the brand name at all, it may be from the company’s partnership with Steinway & Sons, which resulted in some truly extravagant and expensive Steinway Lyngdorf audio systems. Two new announcements this week, though, are helping to push the Lyngdorf Audio brand into the limelight.

Firstly, yesterday, the company launched a new Steinway Lyngdorf YouTube channel, giving the interwebs a behind-the-scenes taste of Lyngdorf’s audio design philosophies, including details on its fully digital audio systems, the use of boundary woofers instead of subwoofers, and the elements that go into designing the ideal listening room for Steinway Lyngdorf sound systems.

Secondly, Lyngdorf Audio is launching a new two-channel amplifier, and although the company is known for making amazing audio gear, it isn’t known for giving any of it very memorable names. That’s where you come in, though. Submit your best name for the new amp at www.lyngdorf.com/contest, and if your entry is chosen, you’ll receive the first sample to roll off the production line.

Here are the first details on the amp to get your creative juices flowing:

  • An unbroken fully digital signal path without sound-deteriorating conversions.
  • RoomPerfect™, the most advanced room correction technology in the world.
  • 2 x 170 watt output power.
  • The same stylish black profiling as the newly launched Lyngdorf Audio CD-2.

Also keep in mind that most Lyngdorf Audio products sport names that sound like they were cooked up by George Lucas on an off-night, including Millennium Mk4DPA-1DP-1, and SDA 2175. Should you stick with that trend, or venture off into more creative territory? That’s for you to decide, although we suspect that “Bob’s Amp” probably wouldn’t make the cut.

The contest ends May 1, 2013, so you’ve got a while to think about it. While you’re at it, take a look at some of Steinway Lyngdorf‘s new YouTube videos.
