URC announced yesterday the immediate availability of its new TKP-7000 In-Wall Touchscreen for Total Control systems. Positioned as an upgraded alternative to the company’s TKP-2000, the TKP-7000 offers the advanced functionality of URC’s Total Control mobile app, with the always-on convenience of a dedicated in-wall device that the kids can’t snag for a quick game of Infinity Blade when you would rather be controlling the lighting, comfort, AV, or security systems in your home.
The TKP-7000 features a 7-inch, 1024 x 600-resolution screen with a capacitive touch surface and all of the swiping, flicking gesture control you would expect from a touchpanel controller. Power is provided to the device via PoE, so all you’ll need in terms of connection is a single Ethernet cable, and the device handily fits into a standard dual-gang wall opening.
A few nice touches include Shortcuts Pop-Up screens, allowing you to quickly access your six most common devices or systems without having to dig through menus, and a Time and Weather Modules that can be accessed directly at the press of a button. A customizable status bar also lets you quickly keep tabs on weather, indoor climate, room status, and astronomical conditions at a glance, including local daily sunrise and sunset times.
As with all Total Control products, the TKP-700 is a custom-installed device, but URC’s Dealer Locator is there to help you find an authorized specialist in your area who can handle all of the installation and programming.
