For most of us, the “home theater” is either a living room or den with a nice surround sound system and a bigger-than-average TV, or at best a dedicated room with five, ten, maybe fifteen seats and a projection screen. But massive home cinemas seating thirty, forty, fifty guests, with first-run digital cinema capabilities, are becoming an increasingly hotter item for the ultra-elite, and as you might imagine, even the biggest, baddest 15- or 18-inch consumer grade subwoofer simply isn’t designed to fill those kinds of rooms with bowel-loosening bass. Pro Audio Technology’s new LFC-24sm, on the other hand, is a perfect match for such rooms.
Standing a staggering 60.5 inches high (or wide), 26 inches wide (or high), and 21 inches deep, the LFC-24sm is a 266-pound behemoth whose four front-firing tuned ports and 88-pound, 24-inch professional driver are capable of outputting a staggering 129.5 dB. The driver is also boasts a sensitivity of 99 dB SPL (one watt/one meter), which is all the more impressive when you consider that the LFC-24sm is capable of sustaining 1000 watts of constant pink noise for two hours straight, a continuous 2000 watts with action movies and music, and momentary bursts of power that greatly exceed that.
Of course, PRO customers don’t have to bring their own power to the party; the LFC-24sm is mated with one of PRO’s Programmable Modular Amplifiers, which delivers 1000 watts of fully DSP-optimized power and gives custom integrators the ability to quickly and easily adjust parametric EQ and delay settings to perfectly match the sub’s performance to the room.

And if you’re planning on attending CEDIA Expo 2013, drop by Pro Audio Technology’s sound room (SR-17) to hear (and feel) two LFC-24sm in action. No word yet on whether or not seat belts will be provided.
