This week, the panel discusses InfoComm. As the association updates the CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) exam, should current CTS holders re-take the test? Other topics covered include the release of HouseLogix's VoicePod for Control4 and the future of voice control in home automation. The group talks about CCTV and how cameras helped catch the Boston Bombers. They also discuss Samsung's 5G announcement, as well as faster optical fiber. Wrapping things up are discussions about the CEA's Hall of Fame, stop signs projected on falling water in Australia, and Dr. Solomon's book on predicting disruptive technology trends.

The group discusses how aware the public is of HDBaseT, the video distribution system that carries high-definition HDMI audio and video, as well as control signals, power, and Ethernet over a single cat5e/cat6 cable. They then talk about the ways in which technology could actually hurt your productivity.
Also on the board for this week's discussion is the fact that, along with the rise in Internet TV, Neilsen will begin tracking some Internet video. The panel wonders if Moore’s Law -- the notion that computing power doubles per unit of cost every two years -- applies to displays and smart TV platforms? In addition, smart thermostat maker Nest Labs announces upgrades -- including updates to the Nest's light sensor and advanced fan controls -- and finally, after the acquisition earlier this year, Home Automation Inc. (HAI) will be rolled into the broader "Leviton Security & Automation" brand.
