In an article penned by AOL Daily Finance http://www.dailyfinance.com/2013/01/05/cheap-car-rental-peer-to-peer-relayrides-zipcar-avis/, it shows the business model potential for peer-to-peer car sharing.  With smartphone access and GPS, the tech is there to make it a reality.  Companies such as RelayRides do not have to maintain a fleet such as competition Zipcar or a traditional rental car agency.  That can make them profitable.  But one glaring omission from the story is the concern of safety for both the vehicle renter and owner.  Rental car S&M and abuse is one of the reasons it Hertz to purchase a vehicle off-rent.  Moreover, some of the nastiest human habits take place in rental vehicles.  Who is deodorizing and decontaminating the vehicle’s interior between trips?  Probably not the vehicle owner who is looking to make a buck by renting out their Grand Caravan.  Anyone check the depth of the tire tread?  Brake fluid ever looked at?  This is especially concerning when it has been awhile since the last state inspection, and we all know there is no corruption that takes place there…

I’ll never pimp my pride and joy and I certainly am not looking for vehicle prostitutes with high mileage on the odometer and god knows what kind of social diseases.
