If you’re into modern-style designer furniture and tiny cars, boy, do smart and BoConcept have a fortwo for you!
According to the press release from smart (subscription required), the smart fortwo BoConcept signature style “represents the best of two worlds: Life in the fast lane with strong design details and gutsy colors, and a cozy home feeling with exclusive materials and comfort.”
On the outside, the car features a matte white finish on the main body panels, while the signature smart “tridion cell” is painted brown and the rims are accented in a bright yellow hue, the release said. Inside, the interior brings some of the furniture stylings of BoConcept, a Danish furniture maker with roots going back to 1952 of “creating high-quality and functional design furniture that offers good value,” according to the press release boilerplate.
Some of those stylings include tobacco brown leather and “fluffy, sofa-style grey fabric” on the seats, door panels, and dashboard, which smart said offers a “warm and soft” aura in contrast to the black elements in most other cars. A real oak shift knob provides a finishing, furniture-like touch. Stitching inside the one-off fortwo is in high-contrast yellow, the same as the smartville sofa in charcoal grey. Yes, smart and BoConcept teamed up on a range of home furniture, as well. Being a site about cars, we’ll spare you most of those details.
Why the seemingly unusual team-up? Part of the release offered an explanation:
As the world’s largest cities continue to grow, one major challenge in urban living is limited space. BoConcept and smart deliver intelligent solutions that save space, but never compromise on look and quality. The clever city car solves the challenge of limited parking space, and the multifunctional furniture pieces help optimize limited living space.
Both companies’ customers look for customized solutions to express their personal style, and they have many options when it comes to personalizing their smart car and designing their BoConcept furniture. “Basically, the smart car and the BoConcept furniture each have strong character, which is made evident by the type of customer who buys them, explains Martin Hülder, head of smart marketing and product management.
The special edition fortwo will be involved in special events at BoConcept store locations and may be ordered at any smart dealer that offers the BRABUS tailor-made program. Pricing, the release said, is “on request.”
