Last night I was able to attend the Maserati and Bowers & Wilkins Seven Notes concert with music by Howie B http://www.technologytell.com/in-car-tech/3781/maserati-and-bowers-wilkins-to-bring-their-seven-notes-world-tour-to-los-angeles-and-new-york-city/. After I explained the event to my father, he gave me a quizzical look. “Nothing sounds better than a Maserati V8 engine. But to make music with it?” And after hearing it with my own ears, I kind of have to agree. I don’t think Yo Yo Ma is going to give up Petunia for a Quattoporte. Musician/Producer Howie B is more of a genius in a Jackson Pollack manner. I can appreciate the effort, but I cannot directly appreciate it with sophomoric ears tuned to pop country and gangsta rap.
But the champagne flowed. The venue was in the heart of NYC’s uber-cool meatpacking district. And the Quattroporte is still one of the most beautiful sedans around- forgetting some the Chrysler-sourced switchgear. Also beautiful were the Maserati version of B&W’s headphones. The Chanel-like carrying case itself is worth the price of admission.
We can’t wait to hear the B&W car system soon on the road.
