The Wall Street Journal reported on a variety of vehicle manufacturers that monitor the driver’s health.  It certainly can help with our aging population and our reflexes becoming not what they used to be.  Pupils are examined to see if you should pull over for a Starbucks fillup.  Perhaps some of the coolest technology are sensors in the steering wheel that measure electrical conductivity that equate to how sweaty your palms are.  The vehicle’s computer can then appropriately step in if stress levels are very high- perhaps from a tractor trailer that just cut you off.  BMW has promoted their system that can alert a Level 1 trauma center in case of a severe crash.

Sometimes its nice to know you have a co-pilot through technology even when you are driving alone…
