When the forecast is for snow (and it has been for the past two weeks) round these parts, I like to leave my ride in the garage overnight. That means pulling in and carefully opening up the door into the strategic piece of carpeting I affixed to the wall. Then I have to shimmy out of the car as if I were 100 pounds overweight and sneak out of the tiny portal left for me. Where I scrape my elbow against a wall-mounted Shop Vac and then trip on a Dora the Explorer scooter.
Audi has taken control of the vehicle technology debuting at CES and in my opinion Audi Piloted Driving is the winner.
Audi’s piloted parking function is offered to the driver when the environmental sensors detect a suitable parking space or garage. The driver can now get out and initiate the parking sequence. Upon reaching its parked position, the car shuts off the engine and locks the doors. The driver receives a confirmation message at the end of the process. The push of a button is likewise all that is required to retrieve the car from the garage or parking space.
