The Dodge Charger is getting updates to its all-wheel drive version just in time for winter, including segment-exclusive Beats Audio.
According to a press release from Dodge, the Beats Audio feature will come on Charger AWD Sport models and will integrate the Beats proprietary equalizer algorithm said to offer listeners a clearer mix. Just ask Dr. Dre.
While Dodge is marketing it as a first in the Charger’s full-size family sedan segment, the folks in Auburn Hills have already made use of the technology in the Chrysler 300S luxury sedan just this year. In the Charger AWD Sport, the system features a 12-channel amplifier that pushes three 3.5-inch speakers in the instrument panel, two 3.5-inch speakers in the rear doors, two 6×9-inch speakers in the front doors, two more 6x9s in the rear parcel shelf, and an 8-inch speaker mounted centrally in the parcel shelf. In addition, it drives an 8-inch trunk-mounted dual voice coil subwoofer in a sealed enclosure to deliver tight bass, the release said.
The Charger AWD Sport starts at about $33,500 after destination charge and is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2013.
