OK, so it isn’t the greatest audio system ever created, but for a factory system the Ford Fiesta’s “Ford Audio” basic system isn’t all bad. There are separate tweeters in the doors by the door handles and woofers mounted down low. Not exactly the best setup for accurate soundstaging but it could be worse.
But the niceties are Bluetooth audio that works via the SYNC system. I found scrolling through the menu proved annoying, so I would cue up Bluetooth audio through MOG via SYNC voice commands. I just said Bluetooth Audio and the system would mumble back ‘bootooth audio.’ Everyone in the car noticed the SYNC lady’s strange dialect when selecting Bluetooth audio. No big deal. But another annoyance was when returning to the car the Fiesta would default back to Line In instead of ‘Bootooth Audio.’ So delivery guys would not be rejoicing if they want to listen to their playlist whilst delivering pizzas. Stay on ‘Bootooth Audio’ if I select it!
Unexpected niceties? Since when did Ford go dipping in the Audi parts bin for a knurled aluminum knob for a master volume control? That is sexy in an economy car. The steering wheel controls proved helpful too. Not a bad deal for a basic audio system.
