Does the Tesla Model S meet the expectation of a “future” car? Many know about the Model S for its main reason, an alternative to fuel powered vehicles, but what about the rest of it?

I feel that the Tesla Model S dashboard has been slightly overlooked by many, although I did read a forum thread I came across via Google, and saw that it had been criticized from a cosmetic standpoint.

The fact is, it’s genius. In an era where it seems cars will be taking a turn from what they are now, to just another piece of technology similar to aniPod orDroid, in which everything is done at the touch of a finger.

The structure in having a ‘home’ seems to be the template on your computer, video game console, and cell phone, and now in the car, as well. The driver can control various things with the seventeen inch touch-screen console. From opening and closing the doors and sunroof to turning the headlights on, the center console truly gives that home base perspective. I believe the design portrays this as well. It is the center point of the car, functionally and literally.

Tesla says its “the dashboard you should expect”, and this was taken from their website; “The touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and steering wheel controls seamlessly integrate media, navigation, communications, cabin controls and vehicle data. From the moment you open the door, the high-resolution Model S touchscreen.”
