The Peterson Auto Museum wants to determine, via the brains of car loving celebrities, the world’s most beautiful sports coupe. Jaguar is sponsoring the whole deal, so I can’t help but think the E-Type will be on display.
Don’t know the E-Type? Well, it’s sex on wheels. Ask Austin Powers. Yeah baby!
FULL DISCLOSURE: I once owned an E-Type with my father and grandfather. A 1974 XKE. Prowl car. Whether cruising or stalking Jaguar XK-E Roadster ad 1974 It was a three-way partnership. They kicked in the green, I kicked in washing, waxing, and restoration work. I was only 18. What a pity it was when we sold it because my grandfather was downsizing his house and lost his extra garage space.
Jaguar will partner with the renowned Los Angeles-based Petersen Automotive Museum to announce “The World’s Greatest Sports Coupes” exhibit to open on April 10. The exhibit will highlight the greatest sports coupes of the past century, and will include guest curators like Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum, actor Patrick Dempsey, Director and Producer Francis Ford Coppola, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, AC/DC’s Angus Young, the guys from the American Top Gear, Adam Corolla, and others.
I did spot a bathtub Porsche in the mix, but I’m sorry. I’m with Clarkson. That Beetle can’t hold a candle to the sexiness of the XKE!
