Blaupunkt San Diego 530

Blaupunkt San Diego 530.  Clearly the Euro model!

Blaupunkt. Or, in German, Blue Dot. Its name has always been synonymous with quality in Europe. So Rockford Fosgate hooked up with the German manufacturer to distribute the product in the United States.

Rockford Corp. Sales Director Al Congdon said, “Blaupunkt’s new San Diego 530 head unit made its first appearance earlier this year at Rockford’s 2014 Product Showcase in January in Las Vegas with high expectations. The new 6.2-inch digital TFT touch screen display (800 x 480 pixels) unit is navigation ready and steering wheel remote control ready (NY solution) and includes built-in Bluetooth with hands-free calling (HFP), audio streaming (A2DP & AVRCP), and phone book access (PBAP). The Blaupunkt San Diego 530 will not disappoint.”

We are diggin’ the big USB port on the faceplate to make smartphone integration a snap. And Bluetooth is built right in. The only thing you may miss is integrated satellite radio. That is because the units designed in Europe get too costly to integrate our American Sirius/XM chipsets. But, better to just have a decent smartphone with the SiriusXM app and stream it through the radio. That is where the future of entertainment in the car is moving anyway.

The MSRP of the unit is $429.99
