I really enjoyed the time spent with the Buick LaCrosse. But there was one thing that I never experienced in any other GM vehicle today: Short people need not apply!
When I first plopped into the vehicle, I was nearly in the back seat! I let the power seat motor take control and was enjoying the ride into my usual vertically-challenged territory, when all of a sudden, I hit the limiter on the power seat. Huh?
I figured there must be a power-adjustable pedal set in a car as well-equipped as the Buick LaCrosse, but no such luck. I had to pull the steering wheel out just a little farther, and I just barely made my regular driving position pushed up to the limit. My wife and I are both 5’5″ on a good day, and she confirmed that you can’t be short and drive this vehicle. Snooki need not apply.
On the other hand, Shaq can sit this far back, and perhaps he was the sponsor for Buick for a reason.
It’s just surprising because I am sure Buick analyzes the data of its core customers and makes adjustments. But the Buick LaCrosse is a statistical outlier. Perhaps its showed that the flagship best suited taller drivers. But typically, wives need the keys every once in a while. So the Buick goes down in my test vehicle record as the only vehicle I had to drive with the seat adjustment taken all the way to the firewall, baby. I usually do not sit abnormally close.
On the other hand, Shaq should exclusively ride in the Buick. Howard Stern should give up his Audi, and Khloe Kardashian should drop the Range Rover. If you have long legs, check out the Buick LaCrosse. If you are a peanut, best check out the Verano.
