Now that is an expensive light fixture! On the shores of Greenpoint, Brooklyn is an odd sight: 28 Audi A8s in shipping containers with the front door off showing off their near-laser LED headlights.
The idea? Create a scoreboard that corresponds to the FIFA World Cup. Visible from miles away, including from an airplane, the Audi LED Scoreboard is comprised of 45 shipping containers and stands more than 40 feet tall. The LED scoreboard digital clusters are made up entirely by the LED headlights of the featured A8 vehicles, showcasing Audi engineering prowess.
All soccer match scores, beginning with the USA win, will be posted throughout the four-week installation. All international victories will be celebrated. The Audi LED Scoreboard will be live through Monday, July 14th. The scoreboard is the first installation in a season-long commitment by Audi to bring world-class soccer to the U.S.
Audi of America Director of Marketing Loren Angelo said, “Audi is proud to bring the passion of international soccer to the shores of Manhattan with a fun, eye-catching LED installation. As the U.S. appetite for international soccer grows, Audi will continue to bring fans exciting activations that enhance their soccer experience.”

If my dear old dad decides to pilot his boat to the Statue of Liberty for the Fourth of July (weather dependent), we’ll try and get some photos from the sea.
