Remember when we told you about the alleged record-breaking lap accomplished by a 2015 Subaru WRX STi on the legendary Isle of Man time trial course? Well, Subaru has released its official videos of the lap. Strap in and hold on tight!

A press release from Subaru reminds us Mark Higgins broke the Isle of Man lap record in a mostly-stock 2015 Subaru WRX STI — they did have to fit a roll cage, racing seat, and five-point safety harness to be “legal” for the time trial, they said, and the car’s factory speed limiter was removed to allow it to reach speeds of which the powertrain is capable in a race setting. That was in addition to special Dunlop Direzza race tires and a straight-through screamin’ exhaust “for crowd safety.” Right. As I said before, I’m sure the fact that the 2015 WRX STi’s boxer four-cylinder engine sounds AWESOME tearing around the Isle of Man without a muffler had nothing to do with that decision…

Higgins’ time reportedly was 19 minutes, 15 seconds to make it around the 37-mile course, carrying an average speed of 117.510 MPH.

Upon completing the record-setting lap, Higgins said, “Setting the record was both the most exhilarating and the most frightening thing I have ever done.”

Anyway, on to the Isle of Man video awesomeness! Steel yourselves for 19 minutes and 15 seconds of balls-to-the-wall corner-carving on the Isle of Man:

And just in case you’re curious, the folks at Subaru also posted this nice walkaround video showing the record-setting 2015 Subaru WRX STi up-close:
