Most people thought, back in the day, the most challenging thing about having a high quality audio system in a car was physically hooking up the speakers. Au contraire- that is only half the battle. The other part of it is tuning it. That is why manufacturers cut big money deals with bespoke audio manufacturers in the OEM. Most of the work isn’t in the hardware- it’s in the tuning. Alpine is trying to make that easier for the average person who craves great sound out of two head units that hover around the $300 range.

RV Shipments Rise 11% In First Quarter As Industry Recovery Continues

RESTON, VA – America’s wholesale recreation vehicle (RV) shipments shot up 11% in the first quarter of 2013, fueled by strong consumer response to the versatility, affordability and innovative designs of new models, according to market data collected by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).

Shipments for all of 2013 are projected to total 307,300, an increase of 7.5% from 2012. This growth projects to an 85% increase from the RV industry’s recession low in 2009, and would mark the first time shipments surpassed 300,000 units since…

2013 International CES was huge for technology industry.

ARLINGTON, VA – The 2013 International CES was huge and staffers from all the TechnologyTell.com sections were there to bring you the latest technology products. Now an independent audit has confirmed our crack staff’s findings about the the annual trade show in Las Vegas—the show was indeed huge.

It’s Boating Season! The Latest from Clarion Marine

In recent years, most of the major 12 Volt manufacturers have separated their marine offerings from their current models. Which is a good thing. Engineering poured into the rigors of surviving the salt water environment is always welcome. Also welcome is the forethought into wired remote controls and wireless controllers that let mariners crank their tunes with ease. For example, if you are in the cockpit (yeah- it doesn’t make sense to me either but the cockpit of the boat is where the guys on Wicked Tuna reel in the fish) and the head unit is located in the helm, how are you going to change SiriusXM stations?

Clarion has poured a lot of their knowledge into this marine lineup. I am especially digging the six-channel XC6610 Class D amplifier. These can be great for today’s ultra-efficient outboard motors that are constantly monitoring alternator draw to deliver the most nautical miles per gallon. Give me one of those six-channel amps on a nice 22′ outboard, a CMD8 controlling the works, two sets of CMQ coaxials, and a 10″ subwoofer encased in a custom fiberglass box for a fiberglass boat and I’ll be rocking in the redneck yacht club.
